Douglas Kerr and Dark Star
Bringing amazing musicians together for epic musical journeys, jamming through an eclectic catalogue of music. That’s what Singer-Songwriter Douglas Kerr from Squamish BC has been doing for over 20 years fronting Dark Star the band he formed in 1996. Performing his original songs and celebrating the music of some of his favourite bands. Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Phish, Garage Mahal as well as the Blues genre in general have all been huge influences to members of the band. You will hear a lot of those influences and different styles on Douglas’s albums “Mountain Sites” 2001 and “In A Moment” 2017. Douglas is passionate about performing with his band that features some of Vancouver’s favourite guitar players. Todd Taylor, Tim Porter, Neil Cruickshank and Carter Low are all masters of improvised soloing and are able to really connect with people through their amazing playing ability and style. Dark Star has a great catalogue of high energy folk, rock and blues music that appeals to all ages and keeps the dance floor going all night.
“I think the most important thing to remember when putting on a show, is making sure it’s a great night out for people. That’s how I approach every show I peform at, wether it's a small group of people or a big crowd.
